ARTIST STATEMENT
Using different media from printmaking to collages, I am fascinated by light and how it filters through the landscape creating inspirational patterns and shaped visions. Most of my art is conceptual. It is recognized for its play of texture and sensitivity of material. The process begins with stimulating walks and travels where I gather thoughts and find natural materials. Landscapes and references to nature are my subject matter. I use environmentally friendly inks and recycled papers and natural fibers. Fully engaged in the process, my work just evolves. Recently, I have been exploring artisanal couture, still referencing but creating unique paper and fabric garments and footwear valued for their originality and creativity.
Born in Montreal, I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of New Brunswick. By studying with prominent Canadian and American artist and printmakers, I have increased my knowledge.
Actively exhibiting my work I am an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, the Society of Canadian Artists and the Colour and Form Society.
My work can be found in private and public collections including the City of Toronto, Bruce County and the Government of Ontario. My art has received awards from Bruce County, the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery, the Praxis Gallery, the John B. Aird Gallery, the Art Gallery of Peel, the F.H Varley Gallery, the Colour & Form Society ,the Society of Canadian Artists, the Etobicoke Art Group, the East Central Ontario Art Association and the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority.
